BOOKING THE SPSV SKILLS TEST
- The candidate should book the test by calling NTA on the following number (0818 064 000).
- The test fee of €90 which can be paid by credit or debit card over the phone or by postal order.
- The candidate should provide PPS NUMBER to NTA.
- There are FIVE TEST CENTRES ALL OVER IRELAND Candidates can choose any centre according to their convenience.
SPSV SKILLS TEST (TAXI TEST)
The SPSV skills test comprises of two sections
Section 1 – INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE (54 Questions).
In this section, candidates have to achieve 75% to pass this module.
For this module candidates should study the official manual for industry.

Section 2 – AREA KNOWLEDGE (36 Questions)
In this section, candidates have to achieve 75% to pass this module.
For this module candidate should have knowledge of the relevant county in the test he or she is appearing for.
So the TOTAL NUMBER of QUESTIONS in the SPSV SKILLS TEST is 90.
Candidates appearing for the test have a total of 90 minutes.
The fee for the SPSV SKILLS TEST is € 90.
If the candidate who appears for the SPSV skills test passes one module and fails the other module he or she has ONE YEAR to pass the other module.
AT THE SPSV SKILLS TEST
- The Candidate appearing for the SPSV SKILLS TEST should bring their FULL IRISH DRIVING LICENCE (Class B or higher) OR EUROPEAN LICENCE which is accepted by the NATIONAL TRANSPORT AUTHORITY.
- No other form of ID is accepted.
- Please arrive at the TEST CENTRE 30 mins prior to your test.
DOCUMENTS NEEDED AFTER PASSING THE SPSV SKILLS TEST
The candidates should make the following documents ready to complete their SPSV driver application
- FORM 15/18 application form ( You can get them from the local Garda station or you could print them online)
- Candidate should pay SPSV driver’s license fees to NATIONAL TRANSPORT AUTHORITY after passing the SPSV SKILLS TEST. ( Receipt should be attached)
- Candidate should arrange a TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE.
- Candidate should attach SPSV SKILLS CERTIFICATE ( which candidate receives after passing)
- Candidate should attach a copy of his FULL IRISH LICENCE ( class B minimum one year old)
- If the candidate has lived outside Ireland for more than one year he or she should attach a POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE FOR THAT COUNTRY.
- Candidates should also attach NDLS DRIVING HISTORY with their Application.
- Candidate should also attach THREE IDENTICAL PHOTOGRAPHS ( size 10cm by 7cm)
